The Mammalian Mafia by classicalguy The Mammalian Mafia by classicalguy
"Who says dinosaurs and pterosaurs get all the fun?"

To be honest, that quote speaks wonders. The media only cares about dinosaurs and big fancy reptiles because they sell. Documentaries, books, movies... it's always dinosaurs. Where are the movies about dinoceratans? Or 6-part documentaries on semi-terrestrial cetacean ancestors? When's the last time you saw a plush Argyrolagus? Or a multi-authored encyclopedia on prehistoric mammals?

The trio mounting an Ambulocetus, Uintatherium, & Machairodus is Carl Buell, Mauricio Anton, & Donald Prothero. They're mammal paleontologists... or paleomammalogists. I'm not sure which is the official term. Carl Buell & Mauricio Anton are notable for being outstanding paleontographers in the field of bringing fossil mammals (and other organisms when necessary) to life, and Donald Prothero is one of the leading experts on prehistoric mammals and has written a plethora of wonderful books on various subjects (like evolutionary evidence & Cenozoic geobiology). Together, they make it their duty to bring knowledge of little-known paleo-mammals to a wider audience.

:) - I know Donald Prothero has seen it and seemed ecstatic, which was pretty awesome!
It's funny that this artwork (and a few other ones) were done before TetZoo Time (as a webcomic) was a thing.

Who would you pick for a piece on people who work on fossil birds? Gerald Mayr on a Palaelodus would be an obvious choice, but I don't know who the others would be. Storrs Olson on a Presbyornis might've been a good idea a few years ago, but he's gone off the deep end.

I would totally have included him had I remembered! How foolish of me.
His work on fossil hominines is brilliant and I'm a huge fan of his Smithsonian murals.
